DOT Meeting 4/3/08 at Companion Dog Training

 
Meeting called to order by President Travis Taylor.

Thank you to Marcia Givens for bringing subway sandwiches and chips for meeting munchies!

Secretary report: mail received- OK Pet Professionals seminar April 25-26 in OKC, free afghan offer (email). 

Email authorization letters sent to all DOT members to approve using email for club business, to be signed and returned to secretary. 

Motion made by Mary Switzer, seconded by Doug G.,  to accept secretary minutes from last meeting as published, approved. 

Treasurers report read, motion made by Melanie, seconded by Mary to approve as read, approved. 

Show chair report: discussion of doing DOT specialty dinner Friday or Saturday night due to Oct. 31 combined specialty costume competition, or possibly having silent auction at ringside during specialty and not at a dinner. Decision tabled to next meeting. Show chair will need to find out about concessions or outside catering allowed at convention center. 

The AKC application for specialty is due April 30 and judge selection due by June. At this time judges will be Chris Benoit for sweeps, the Swedish judge Anita Whitmarsh for conformation (if approved for USA by AKC) and show chair will check with Barbara Jeleski about sharing obedience judge. 

Cluster/ Combined specialty meeting report: Marcia attended their meeting and reports instead of auction, they are going to do a donor board with responsible animal ownership education material available at the show. Each member club (10 clubs) would get $100 in donor(s) (one donor or multiple donors) who would be listed on donor board for their contribution. Next year the combined specialty dues would be increased to $50/year.

Motion made by Mary Switzer, seconded by Melanie, for DOT to agree to sponsor donor board for Combined Specialty, approved.  

Nominating committee – Mary Switzer appointed to be board member on committee. Two other DOT members in good standing will be picked and the 3 on the nominating committee will work on a slate of nominees to present to club. Members of DOT will be notified in writing of this slate of nominees before June 5 meeting. Nominations from the floor will be accepted at the June meeting and voting will be at the July meeting. 

Notice- Travis requested anyone who could assist as stewards for obedience rings at Grove show April 12-13 since those who were supposed to be stewards are not available now. Contact Travis is you can help out. 

May meeting will not be held due to week of National Dalmatian Specialty in Kentucky. June 5, 2008 meeting location TBA- possible program= refresher course on being ring steward.
