President Marcia Givens called meeting to order at 7 pm Treasurer’s report by Shirley Schillinger printed and passed out to members. Motion to approve as printed made by Mary Szafranski, seconded by Melanie Dickey, and approved by vote. Secretary report by Melanie Dickey -- last meeting minutes from July 2, 2009, read out loud. Motion to approve as read and published by Mary Szafranski, seconded by Shirley Schillinger, and approved by vote. Visitor Kim Caudle welcomed and introduced- packet of membership application material given. Old business-Sept. 12, 09 at Murphy Park in Rogers, Ark.- James Wylie sent info to DOT about responsible dog ownership day activities. Also, DOT planning on helping with meet- the- breed at the OKC show in July 2010. Article on “Avoid biting” in Tulsa Pet magazine reviewed by Mary Szafranski—ask permission of the owner before approaching a dog, before feeding a dog, before touching a dog-remember don’t make eye contact (considered a threatening move in the dog world). Show chair report—DOT specialty Oct. 30’09 in Joplin, MO.-- Catalog ads due in Sept. Shirley ready to collect items for auction, Joyce can help her. Food for hospitality at show may come from Sam’s next door to show site. Motion made by Shirley Schillinger, seconded by Pat Keough, and approved for DOT to reserve a room at the Holiday Inn for hospitality on Friday night only. Everyone invited to bring their Dals even if not showing for the blood draws by Dr.Ginger Iawoka (vet) for AKC bank for research- Brad Allen helping to coordinate for the vet. Sept. 3, 2009- DOT meeting will be at Companion—CGC testing will be available. Oct. 1, 2009- DOT meeting-possibly at Companion- show conformation run-through available. Oct. 30, 2009- DOT specialty in Joplin MO. Nov. 21, 2009- Jenks parade- DOT will use the decorated golf cart again and a little firetruck. Dec. 3, 2009- Christmas open house meeting at Dickey’s home.
