DOT meeting August 5, 2010 at Givens home Meeting called to order at 7 pm by president Marcia. Quorum present. President’s report- Marcia and Mary attended meeting concerning AKC Responsible Dog Owner day in Claremore in Sept. More information later in meeting. Secretary report- Melanie reported membership application to DOT received from Erica Hill as well as email authorization and member in good standing notice signed, with $20 membership dues included. Members voted to accept as new member to DOT. Melanie will send notice to Erica with welcome to club. July meeting minutes posted on website- Motion made by Shirley Schillinger, seconded by Mary Switzer, to accept last meeting minutes as printed on website, and approved. Treasurer Shirley gave handout of treasurer’s report- Motion made by Melanie, seconded by Mary Switzer, to accept report as printed, and approved. Public relations- Mary Szafranski said Nellie was in 3 news reports in Arkansas. Bella owned by Marellie is in a photo contest, everyone can vote once a day online, Marcia had emailed everyone the website. Show committee- nothing new to report this month- ads for catalog due in Sept. Discussion held about AKC Responsible Dog Ownership day Sept. 18, 2010- the Wylies are conducting an event for this in Springdale Arkansas that day 11 am-1 pm at JB Hunt park. Also Marcia and Mary got information on the same day Sept 18 AKC event in Claremore OK at Will Rogers Downs Event ctr. From 9-5. Since DOT has expressed interest and participated in this event in Springdale AR last year, the DOT board okayed $200 to reserve 10x10 booth at Claremore event this year. We will be showing how to crate, groom, trim nails, stack a show dog. We’ll have information available about the breed, and pass out our club website on business cards. We’ll have coloring for the kids and posters. All dog clubs working the Claremore AKC event will be wearing purple shirts for the event and Marcia also has purple/green/gold beads with Dalmatians to wear. Marellie is working on DOT member nametags to wear- Melanie will check on purchasing lanyards or nametag plastic clip-on’s. The DOT logo and website on business cards will be printed by Marellie. Marcia will be a judge in the fun match at this event. Everyone needs to come help for a few hours or all day! Discussion held concerning raffle tickets –there will be 2 drawings for $500 each cash prize with different color tickets for each raffle- $10 each ticket with only 100 tickets to be sold for each drawing. Red ticket numbers start at 696361 to 696460. White/grey ticket numbers start at 441075 to 441174. Tickets will be sold till 100 limit reached for each drawing. Winning ticket will be drawn by unbiased non-club member at DOT specialty in Joplin MO 11/5/10 and person need not be present to win. Winning ticket number and name will be published on DOT website. Contact Marcia for tickets to sell or buy. Mary Switzer (parade chair) will contact Mike and Melissa Givens concerning DOT Frisbees with our logo to give out at the Jenks parade instead of candy. Black polo style shirts shown and discussion held of printing DOT logo above pocket and selling. Shirley will check on cost of monogram sewing. Upcoming meetings and events: 9/2/10- DOT meeting at Marellie and Dick’s home, swimming pool available – Melanie will give powerpoint presentation on Pet Therapy. 9/18/10- AKC Responsible Dog Owner day in Claremore, OK 10/7/10- Dot meeting—finishing show details. Motion made by Shirley, seconded by Mary Szafranski, and approved to move November DOT meeting to the DOT specialty day Friday, 11/5/10 in Joplin MO. 11/20/10- Jenks Christmas parade 12/2/10- DOT meeting and Christmas open house at Melanie’s house. After brags, motion to adjourn from Bill Schillinger, seconded by Shirley, and approved. |
