DOT meeting July 1, 2010 at Givens home Hamburger and hotdog cookout before meeting- thanks to Doug Givens for grilling! Thanks to Marcia and everyone who brought side dishes and desserts. Mary Szafranski demonstrated a dog seatbelt harness she uses with her dogs in the car. Meeting was called to order at 8 pm by president Marcia Givens. Quorum was present. President’s report: Marcia thanked everyone for working together to make club successful. Thank you gifts were presented to the past year board members. Shirley Schillinger presented President Marcia with a thank-you gift card for restaurant. Secretary’s report: Melanie Dickey read meeting notes from June DOT meeting. Corrections made that trophies of Pet’s Mart gift cards for junior handler will be from Mike and Melissa Givens. Motion made by Travis Taylor, seconded by Melanie, that only BOB $100 and High in Trial $100 will be paid by DOT club. Also Rick Miller conformation judge will have all expenses paid by DOT but Patrick Jones sweepstakes judge will only be paid $100 by DOT. Motion was made by Shirley Schillinger, seconded by Mary Switzer to approve June meeting minutes as corrected, approved by vote. Treasurer’s report: handout was given to members by Shirley. Motion was made by Melanie, seconded by Mary Szafranski, to approve treasurer’s report as printed, approved by vote. Melanie announced that Lynda Brownson had sent in report of club activities and upcoming show info to the Spotter magazine(DCA). No public relations report at present. Show committee report- Melanie stated she received AKC approval letters for show and judges panel after sending in clubs new roster, officers, and last year activities list. Premium and trophy list have been turned in by mid-June to Barbara Jeleski for combined specialties. Marellie Robinson reported on prices and types of possible club nametags to wear at meetings and functions. She showed examples of lanyard type vs. pin-on type- we could print up computer 3x4 cards with DOT logo and person’s name. Everyone could pay $5 to defray cost. Motion made by Shirley, seconded by Mary Switzer to have Marellie form committee and make DOT club nametags. Election of Officers: Slate of officers read to club as follows-president Marcia Givens, vice president Travis Taylor, secretary Melanie Dickey, treasurer Shirley Schillinger, member at large Mary Switzer. Motion made by Travis, seconded by Tim Szafranski, that with no other nominations received in writing or at last meeting, that the slate of officers be approved as read, and approved by vote of club members. Dues are due by August 1- $30 couple and $20 single. Standing Rules (now on DOT website) read to club concerning requirements for members in good standing. Motion made by Travis, seconded by Tim, to approve standing rules as published and read at meeting, approved by vote. Visitors introduced- Gloria and Warren Shoman, and Erica and Rick Hill (with dog Piper). The Hills were given membership application, bylaws, email authorization, standing rules for members in good standing. Suggestion made by Marcia for fundraiser for show fund- print 200 raffle tickets for $10 each to win either $1000 cash or gift card with any money made beyond the $1000 as funds to club (up to $1000). Members could have option to buy or sell tickets or not. Drawing could be at Nov. specialty. Motion made by Shirley, seconded by Mary Switzer, to accept Marcia’s idea for raffle tickets and let Marellie print tickets on computer and winner to be drawn by impartial non-club member at Nov. 5 DOT specialty in Joplin, approved by vote (one dissenting vote). Brags- Reggie is now UKC Champion with 2 reserve best in shows from UKC 2 day show at Companion dog School in June. After brags, motion to adjourn made by Melanie, seconded by Mary, and approved. |
