DOT meeting and Dalentine dinner March 3, 2011 at Michael V’s restaurant A BIG thank you to
Mary Szafranski for planning and organizing the Dalentine dinner! Even though
the blizzard delayed it from February to March, we all had fun with Dalmatian
theme guessing games, and counting the “spots” liver and black M&Ms, and
surprises at the tables. Secretary report- Mary Szafranski made motion to accept minutes of last meeting as published, seconded by Mary Switzer, and approved. Treasurer’s report- Shirley Schillinger reported no income and no expenses since last report- Mary made motion to accept report, seconded by Lynda Brownson, and approved. Show report- Melanie Dickey volunteered to be show chair for 2011- judge Joseph Gregory suggested, motion made by Lynda, seconded by Mary, approved by membership for him to be asked to judge our specialty in Nov. 2011- Marcia will email to confirm his availability and expenses. Combined Specialty will be picking obedience judge. Ideas for sweepstakes judge requested. At the Combined Specialty meeting last week, the group decided to do a fundraiser selling 50/50 tickets , with each specialty to have 25 tickets to sell at $10/each- Motion made by Lynda, seconded by Melanie and approved to accept this fundraising proposal. Discussion was held about doing 2 specialties this year- Doing a back-to –back specialty at Nov. show weekend in Joplin with Combined Specialties would mean that our first specialty would be Nov. 4, 2011 and the designated second specialty would be on Nov. 5, 2011. For a $15 fee to AKC we would get credit but have help putting on a second specialty as part of all-breed kennel club show on sat. Motion made by Mike Givens, seconded by Pat Keough, and approved by membership to have the second designated specialty on Nov. 2011 show weekend in Joplin. Reminder- DCA National show will be in Tulsa in 2012. Melanie showed a Dog Safety kit with DVD on Kid safety around dogs received from AKC- board will discuss showing this in future meeting. Sept. 17, 2011- Responsible Dog Ownership Day will be in Glenpool this year. March 11-12-13, 2011 –there will be a UKC show at Companion and you can enter day of show. Companion dog training school now has a presentation room built with bigscreen TV and library for meetings. Our next DOT meeting April 7, 2011 will be at Companion school. Brags- Travis and Cindy Taylor now have 4 certified therapy dogs! Membership application, email authorization, bylaws, and standing rules for members in good standing given to Dr. Jo Glaser, who will be adopting Joy soon. We will be voting on new membership next meeting after receiving her application. Motion made by Dick Robinson to adjourn, seconded by Tim Szafranski, and approved.
