DOT meeting 5/6/10 at Givens home President Marcia Givens called meeting to order at 715 PM. Secretary report- Melanie thanked the membership for sending updated information for club roster- will reissue revised roster soon. Minutes of last meeting read by Melanie. Motion made by Shirley, second by Travis to accept minutes as read, and approved. Treasurer’s report handed out by Shirley. Motion made by Melanie, second by Mary, to accept treasurer’s report as resented, and approved. DOT show chair report- Rick Miller has confirmed he will be our conformation judge and Pat Jones will be our sweepstakes judge. DOT specialty in Joplin MO will be 11/5/10. Mary Szafranski, obed., Travis ring steward and club will hire Trish as inside ring steward again, Marcia trophies, Mary Switzer ads, Melanie hospitality, auction will be run by Shirley and Joyce. Shirley suggested if auction could be just a few nice items instead of lots of small ones due to travel to Joplin and space for auction set-up. Suggestons for nice items were a foldup dogcrate, a $100 bill or VISA card or gas card. Marcia suggested making dogblankets for some of the trophies again. The club has received the obedience and conformation DCA medallions already. We can use the Purina bags from last year that we have left. Also gotten at recent DCA national show= kennel signs, catalogs, information seminars. Also consider having a microchip service or clinic at DOT specialty. A letter of thanks was received for DOT donation for pet oxygen masks for firefighters. AKC obedience rally seminar is Aug. 7-8, 2010, hosted by Greater Kansas City Dog Training club. Election nomination committee of Marellie Robinson, Mary Switzer and Shirley Schillinger met and came up with the following slate of nominees for upcoming election-President Marcia Givens, vice pres. Travis Taylor, secretary Melanie Dickey, treasurer Shirley Schillinger, member at large Mary Switzer. Nominations may be made at the next meeting June 3, 2010- election will be at July meeting. Mary Switzer volunteered to be care chair and mail birthday cards, etc. Correspondence : Jessica Duff sent a senior high school graduation announcement and will be getting scholarship from NEOK Kennel club. Motion made by Marellie, second by Mary, to have Shirley get a graduation frame and send card to Jessica from DOT, and approved. Roster update continuing-please send any changes or corrections to Melanie. New business—Annual club dues ($20 single, $30 family) are due now- members can pay their dues at June or July meetings or mail them to Shirley Schillinger. The DOT board is submitting a change for approval of membership : Change section 4 paragraph B of club bylaws to state “dues will be paid on or before August 1st. Membership lapses if dues remain unpaid 30 days after Aug. 1.” The club membership will be asked to vote on this change at next regular meeting. June 3, 2010 DOT meeting will be at Givens home. July 1, 2010 DOT meeting will be at Givens home with cookout and fireworks. Sept.2, 2010 DOT meeting will be at Marellie and Dick’s home (pool party). Discussion of fun summer plans- road trip to OSU seminars or another CGC testing or summer concerts/picnics. Announcements- Marcia put in her application to become a dog show judge. Marellie showed new credit card with Bella’s picture on it. Shirley reported on laser therapy treatment by Dr. Carley for allergies. Melanie offered to do power point presentation of Pet Therapy at future meeting. OSU seminars health care subjects—one is swine flu in pets. After brags, motion by Marellie, second by Mary to adjourn.

Call to order at 6:30 pm. Motion made by Shirley, second by Mary, to waive reading of last board meeting minutes, and approved. Treasurer’s report handout reviewed. Motion to accept report, made by Melanie, second by Travis, and approved. New business- 1. Discussion of changing auction to 1-2 nice items rather than lots and lots of small items or baskets, due to transport to Joplin and setup space. 2. Trophy items for coming specialty donations received by Marcia. 3. Discussion of how membership dues are done—see bylaws “dues paid on or before Aug. 1” contradicted by another section stating “ membership lapses after July 30” –should be Sept. 1. Motion made by Travis to change Section 4 paragraph B to state “membership lapses if dues remain unpaid 30 days after Aug. 1.” Second by Shirley and passed by board. Per article 7 section 1 and 2 amendments, the board of directors of DOT will submit this change to membership by email with meeting minutes for approval by vote at next regular meeting. Annual club dues ($20 single $30 couple) are due and may be paid at June or July meetings or mailed to treasurer Shirley Schillinger. Motion to adjourn board meeting by Shirley, second by Marcia and meeting adjourned. |
