DOT Meeting Sept. 4, 2008 at Companion Dog Training school
           

Pizza and desserts available before meeting called to order at 7 pm by President Marcia

Givens.   President’s report—Thanks to past president Travis Taylor   for club’s direction over last year.

Secretary Minutes of last meeting sent to members, motion made by Mary Switzer, seconded by Mary Szafranski, to approve minutes as published, approved by vote.

Treasurer’s report copies passed to members by Shirley Schillinger, motion made by Melanie Dickey, seconded by Mary Switzer, approved by vote as printed.

Public relations- Mary Szafranski and Mike Givens have been working on web-site and removing any past information so that it will be up to date.

Discussion: Dog Ownership Day events- Sept. 13 in Rogers, AR (see handout) 1-4 pm, also Sept. 20 in Grove, OK 10-2 with CGC tests and microchips available. Also Stillwater OK dog ownership day information from Yvette’s email.

Paws –in- the- Park   offered as possible public education day or club fun event, will check date.

Show report- Melanie Dickey- AKC Rules for stewards available.  Barbara Jeleski confirmed paid stewards for obedience. Motion tabled to Oct. meeting to pay ring steward for conformation ring. Ads need to be given to Kim Jenning by Sept. 22.  Premium proof approved and veterans obedience class addition approved through AKC. Invitations to be sent to all 2007 DOT specialty entrants   encouraging them to come to the 2008 specialty (Melanie and Shirley working on this). 

Melanie will be out of town Sept. 29- October 14 but will check before and after trip for status of show committees.

Parade report- Mary Switzer- Tulsa Christmas parade of Lights discussed and decision made not to enter due to older dogs, higher entry fee, and low numbers available to walk in parade. She will be checking on Jenks daytime Nov. holiday parade and other possibilities.

No new business items to discuss.

Travis mentioned the Grove dog club had purchased a microchip reader to donate to the shelter there. This could be a possible idea for DOT to do for Tulsa shelter.

Motion to adjourn by Bill Schillinger, seconded by Doug Givens and vote approved.
